Citizens Against the Sprawlway In Kendall and Kane Counties
July 25, 2007
Dear Drew,
Citizens Against the sprawlway, the grassroots organization which has opposed the Prairie Parkway since
2001, supports your candidacy for the Kane County board and your continuing opposition to the Prairie
Parkway.
We believe that the better solution to traffic needs is the expansion of Illinois 47 and other local
highways in Kane and Kendall counties. Focusing on the existing highway network will help save thousands
of acres of prime farmland that would be lost to the Prairie Parkway as well as preserving the pristine
quality of the big Rock Creek watershed.
The Prairie parkway, if built, would cut through the heart of Big Rock and Kaneville in Kane County, two
communities that have worked long and hard to maintain their rural village atmosphere. In Big Rock and
Kaneville township referenda this past April, more than 80 percent of the voters opposed the construction
of the Prairie Parkway.
Many of our members live in these two townships that would be impacted severely if the Prairie Parkway is
built. We believe that it important that we elect a County Board Member who represents - and shares - our
view and interests in meeting the country's transportation needs while preserving farmland, our
environmental riches, and our rural and small town life style.
Sincerely,
Jan Strasma, Chairman
